Per Clint's request & Astroboy~

I finished this set of Magic cards while in Prague. To be honest, i am not happy with them. :( I wish i could incorporate my own style within the Magic universe more successfully. I will try harder in the next set.

In the other news: "Astroboy" was up to a not so flying start in the US. I watched it with my little sis, who turned 12 on the day it premiered in China. She LOVED it. I told her about the bad reviews and horrible box offices, and they didn't change a thing: She still LOVES it.
Which is all that really matters to me. :)

Yeah, I can see that you are frustrated in your work. I can see it in the last illustration especially. I think you are getting too concerned with your idenity and forgetting the love and the joy of painting. When you paint it is going to be you. I can tell a shelly wan painting by certain things you do in a painting. It's like aleski or matt dixon, you all have different things that all of you do. I think the Shards of Alara cards were really fresh in design and ideas. I think it is more important to keep the freshness of the ideas coming. I liked that in you're previous works. You paint your figures really and shapes are always hot sauce. Sphinx is cool though. Waiting to see what you do next though shell. Peace out. Keep inspiring.

I've had the same issue with cards I have done for a few companies- I'm not sure what it is that makes me seize up and forget myself as I work on pieces for others. It usually leaves me pretty frustrated with the work itself.

Sorry not really a helpful comment, but hopefully just comfort in the fact that everyone sometimes goes through similar problems.

Hey, Shelly I was wondering if you do Signature/Autographs on pieces you have done, namely a couple Magic cards? Please let me know, thank you.

I am amazed at your art work, especially the Devout Lightcaster you did for the latest Magic set, It is one of my favorite cards of all time. Is there a way someone could buy like a large print of that, or something, that would be awesome.
