Shellywan, what a nice piece of artwork...you really take care of your audience.

Hey Shelly! I know you already read my comment on the original post where your entry is 'hanging up', but I just wanted to reiterate it here so it isn't buried with all the other comments on all the other pieces.

So once again, I enjoyed your piece very much and how it recalled, in my eyes, Alphonse Mucha's 'The Slav Epic'. Despite the saddening nature of the piece.... the great discovery being a young girl's naivete shattered by the cruel nature of reality surrounding her.... there is still beautiful scenery bolstered by lively colors, establishing a [false?] sense of hope.

Thank you for responding and adding the last insight into your piece about the boy being the flipside of the negative, discovering beauty among destruction with his garment full of flowers.

Cheers, and thanks for keeping us entertained with all the funny pictures while we were waiting for the show to go up. ;)

Nice one Sheldon!
Love how you controlled the light going across the composition -really smart play of warm and cool tones. Not just as a compostional device, but also in the storytelling as well. You so good!

Geez Shelly, you don't exactly disappoint, do ya? And Josh is lying, we only stayed at the Haggin Museum for 3 hours, but we DID get 8 zillion nice pictures. Maybe I should post some on the lounge thread, but that'd take work :(

Anyways, it'll be fun to see how the final matchup goes. Make us proud!
