Beautiful work! I just happened upon your blog and find your paintings quite nice. I am wondering how you and others are able to render the body and face so well from the imagination. Does it take years of studying the figure or is it a talent you either have or don't have?
Let me guess..... Gary Kelley? It's a beautiful start Shelly. And though I'm sure you're just being humble, I take comfort in the notion that you're a slow painter. :P
Whoa, I typed too fast and didn't see that you said Mead Schaeffer. He's a favorite of mine too (out of many)! I have some old magazine clippings of his too. If I find them I'll scan them and show'm some time. :)
as soon as i can weasel Greg to send me all the detail shots from the Kelley show in NYC last year i'll send them your way. He took like a million shots of the Schaeffer's.
Hello Shelly, that is a beautiful painting. My name is Veronica, I'm from Puerto Rico. I would like to comunicate with for I'm begging to learn about Mead Schaffer. my father met him and he told me that M. Schaffer made a painting of him. I'm searching for that painting...

...an aspiring artist.
I'm so jealous of your colors!

With these kind of results does anyone care about speed?
Very nice, very subtle, and very "storytelling"!
Hi Shelley,
My friends turned me on to your blog. There are lovely and inspiring things here.

wow, mead schaeffer is one of my favorite too. I always felt you were into those american illustrators from that era. amazing.
Incredible!
Very nice works. Asian inspiration. I like it.
1.) Mead Schaffer rocks
2.) I saw your Tor cover on Irene's blog and it was excellent. It would be a heck of a treat to see it all biggie-sized!
Keep making us all look bad, okay? :)
